Case BBOPF 14-2

Dr. Denis Lynch (Marquette University School of Dentistry) is requesting your opinion. Please send your comments in the window located below the images. This case will be posted from January 31 - February 7, 2014. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

This patient is taking Bystolic, Meloxicam, Paroxetine and Premarin. The radiographs are WNL. One stage surgery was performed. The granulation tissue developed almost immediately, persisted despite OHI, was removed nearly in entirety two months after fixture installation and the healing abutments were replaced by cover screws. These photographs are how the sites looked three weeks after removal and placement of cover screws. Have been using Amoxicillin on and off and CHX. What do you think?

I have no doubt these represent granulation tissue (as does the periodontist). The question is “How do you treat effectively and prevent recurrence?”
