Case BBOPF 09-5

Dr. Douglas Arendt (Maxillofacial Pathology and Forensics, Vienna, Virginia. USA) is requesting your opinion in the following case. Please send your comments in the window located below the images. This case will be posted from June 21 to June 27, 2009. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

History

Teenage female with right mandibular radio-opacity picked up on pre ortho exam. No history of trauma or infection. The orthodontist is interested in determining if this process will preclude ortho treatment.

I would be very interested in:

  1. Obtaining your radiographic impressions
  2. Do you believe a core / trephine biopsy is indicated to include cortical plate
  3. Would you clear the patient to proceed with ortho?

Thank you...I have discussed with a few colleagues...but with very varying opinions....need some input on this one .
