Case BBOPF 06-5

The following case was contributed by Dr. Yeshwant Rawal (University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. Memphis,TN. USA). This case will be posted from June 8 to June 15, 2006. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

Clinical History

We encountered this "animal/vegetable" structure in a soft tissue mass of the palate. It seems to evoke no inflammatory response. The inside shows an eosinophilic proteinaceous material. The structure does not polarize and appears to be parasitic or the ova/cyst of one. Has any one seen eggs of maggots?

YOUR OPINIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
