Case BBOPF 06-3

The following case was contributed by Dr. Bryan Wihtaker (Arkansas, USA). Dr. Wihtaker invites your comments on the following case. This case will be posted from March 9 to March 16, 2006. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

Clinical History

41 YOWM (general surgeon) with class I occlusion and good oral hygiene presented with missing enamel on the buccal surfaces of his mandibular teeth. He had been told by an oral surgeon that it was caused by reflux. He has "heartburn" on the rare occasion that he eats too much and too late in the evening. He does not take any meds for it and has no signs nor symptoms. There is evidence of possible nocturnal clenching and/or grinding.

He denies sucking on citrus fruits, etc. He cannot correlate this to anything.

YOUR OPINIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
