The following case was contributed by Dr. Dolphine Oda (University of Washington, USA). Dr. Oda invites your comments on the ensuing case. Please send your comments in the window located below the images. This case was posted from February 18 to February 25, 2005. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

Clinical History

This is a 7-year-old girl presenting with radiolucencies in all four quadrants. The bilateral mandibular radiolucencies are symmetrical, multilocular and extending into the ascending ramus. No family history of a similar condition was obtained (the child is not adopted).

The specimen lacked multinucleated giant cells. The tissue is myxoid and has mast cells (negative with S-100). The blood vessels are clearly hyalinized.

Has anyone seen cherubism with a prominent myxoid stroma and NO giant cells?
