Case BBOPF 04-4

Dr. John Lovas has contributed one of his cases and invites your comments regarding its treatment. Please send your comments in the window located below the microscopic images. This case was posted from April 13-20, 2004. A summary of the responses will be posted in BBOP.

Clinical History

This 41yo female had a draining fistula in the clinically expanded left posterior edentulous maxilla. Incision & drainage was performed and Amoxil prescribed. The fistula failed to resolve. At surgery, a soft tissue mass was easily curetted from the bony cavity.

Histologically it is a straight-forward ameloblastoma, with some tumor within, as well as beyond the capsule.

QUESTION: What additional treatment would you recommend, if any?
